When people think of Summit County, skiing and snowboarding always come to mind. Summit County has some of the best skiing in the world. There are 4 ski mountains in the area, and Vail and Beaver Creek are only minutes away. Look at the ski reports for the ski mountains in the area. Not only is there skiing and snowboarding in the winter, but snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing are popular ways to see the countryside. If you really like the cold, ice fishing is also something fun to try! Others who like the frozen lakes and ponds but want to keep moving, enjoy ice skating. In December, one of the largest hot air ballon festivals takes place in Breckenridge. All year long you can attend great festivals and parades, and goshopping in Summit County.

Summer Attractions... Fall in Frisco atop Mt. Royal!

There are many attractions and activites in Summit County year round. The summer time brings people from all over the world to admire the colorful flowers and snow capped mountains. There is hiking, mountain biking, and camping right outside all the towns in Summit County. And, there are trails in the woods as well as in town. There is a bike path that runs from the beginning of Summit County going all the way up through Vail that many people use for walking, biking, and roller blading.

As the streams fill with trout and other fish, fly fishing becomes a popular sport among the locals and tourists. The Summit County area also offers some of the best rafting and kayaking in Colorado. Horseback riding has also become a popular mode of sightseeing and you can enjoy a mountain top dinner in the area. In the Fall, the yellow leaves of the aspen trees attract thousands. These are only a few of the summer time activities in the County you can come and enjoy.
