The application of CERAX could not be made any easier! CERAX is not a wax, but it is a liquid, which can be applied at room temperature. Because CERAX is non-toxic and does not
contain hazardous vapors, there is no need to wear a mask during application. CERAX does lengthen the long-term durability of your ski base by eliminating the stress of high temperature
wax applications.
Application Procedure:
- Clean base with CERAX cleaner and remove existing coatings with nylon or brass brush.
- Prepare base with paraffin (hydrocarbon) wax. Do not use fluorinated waxes!
- Plastic scrape and nylon brush the base.
- If necessary, structure the base to suit snow conditions.
- Warm base with hair-dryer up to 70-100° F (20-40° C).
- Apply CERAX racing polymer solution with sponge applicator.
- Warm base once more with hair-dryer up to 70-100° F in order to enhance durability increase polymer organization. DO NOT EXCEED 100° F!
- Brush (polish) with roto or hand brushes.
Note: The coating will improve on snow with some skiing. Warming the ski base before and after application will increase the lifetime of CERAX on the skis.
Possible mistakes with application:
- Base is not clean: especially fluorinated waxes can destroy the self-organisation. Some rather greasy fluorinated waxes are really difficult to remove.
- The cleaned ski-base needs paraffin time and again-CERAX spares the base but does not grease it. Especially new bases should be treated with paraffin
or equivalent before applying CERAX.
- The bottle needs a good shake before use. Listen to the glass balls inside-we really mean it!
- Too much material will make it difficult to polish the base. Watch out especially with CERAX PRO 1.
